Anna O’Neil
Yoga Teacher

A Yoga practitioner of 20 years, Anna shares her love of Yoga by co-teaching Alive’s 9:15am vinyasa class on Wednesdays and 5:00pm community class on Thursdays. She teaches to inspire self-discovery through the connection of breath, mind, body & spirit, while building strength and flexibility. She considers her yoga practice essential to her overall well-being, bringing much joy to her life and hopes the same for her students. Born and raised in N. California, she is a mother of two teen boys and a wife to a marvelous husband. She loves spending time in nature, cooking and being a perpetual student of any subject that captures her heart and curiosity.

April Minor
Yoga Teacher

April co-teaches Wednesday morning’s Irie Yoga class. April’s gentle, breath focused perspective is a gateway to the attainment of chitta vrtti nirodhah, through mental and physical alignment. Trained in Irie Yoga, with influences from vinyasa and restorative practices. Her motto is “just breathe.” For new and experienced yogis, all are invited.

Erin O’Brien
Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga Teacher

Erin offers a vigorous Vinyasa class Monday evenings and a gentle Slow Flow + Restorative class on Wednesday evenings. Erin’s approach to yoga is non-authoritarian, inquiry-based, and rooted in experiential learning. Trained by Don & Amba Stapleton in 2013, Erin brings over 15 years of experience as a student and teacher. To deepen her capacity to work all ages and abilities, provide supportive hands-on assists and strengthen her understanding of the many dimensions of yoga, she has pursued an additional 500 hours of advanced training. Iris Lambert
Irie Yoga Teacher, 200 hr. Yoga Teacher Training Director and Scheduling Extraordinaire

Iris specializes in Yoga, Thai Massage and Elemental Lifestyle Coaching. She met Swami Satchidananda when she was singing and dancing in Hair on Broadway in 1969. This was the beginning of her life changing.  She began teaching yoga in 1972 in Sausalito, California and received Massage Certification in 1978. Ashtanga Vinyasa became her home practice.  More recently Iris has learned alignment from Anusara and creative sequencing from Shiva Rea. Learn more about Iris: Click Here


Gangarani Keech
Kundalini and Hatha Yoga Instructor

Gangarani E. Keech, RYT-500, became a Level 1 Kundalini Yoga instructor in 2009. She was also certified to teach Hatha Yoga by Sivananda Vedanta in Kerala, India, in 2005. She has taught regular classes and workshops all over the United States. Her focus at Alive is Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, a dynamic practice offering tools to balance the human systems through posture, pranayama, meditation, and vibration of sacred sounds. Through experience of this yoga, Gangarani has learned that living with courage and creativity is a natural state and a potential we all have in each moment. She recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and will be back teaching Spring 2018.


Jessica McMillen
Vinyasa Yoga Teacher

Jessica been practicing yoga for nearly a decade. Her quality of teaching is gentle yet vigorous. She works to build endurance as well as teaching to meet the body where it is now. Yoga is integral to her life. For Jessica, yoga is a way for people to connect with spirit and to connect with their body’s inner strengths. As a lifelong student of yoga, Jessica hopes to share her journey with yogis of all levels.


Kara Weimer
Himalayan Vinyasa Krama, Meditation & Yoga Nidra Teacher

Kara has been practicing bodywork since 1996 and teaching yoga and meditation since 2003.​​​​ She offers breath-centered yogasana/pranayama and meditation classes – beginning to advanced, senior and chair yoga, yoga for the underserved, yoga at work and trauma sensitive yoga for the at risk communities. She enjoys sharing the healing, therapeutic & spiritual benefits of traditional yogic science, using the breath as the guide for transformation and self empowerment. Liz Levy
Mindful Vinyasa Yoga Teacher

Alive Yoga was founded by yoga teacher and body-worker extraordinaire, Liz Levy. She leads an incredible Mindful Vinyasa Class on Friday mornings and offers bodywork throughout the week. Liz discovered yoga and bodywork simultaneously back in 1989, and has been passionate about supporting others as they discover their path to presence and joy ever since! Luis Briceno
Hatha/Iyengar Yoga Teacher

Luis’ philosophy of how to live a healthy life encourages him to remain active throughout the day while using yoga and massage practices to support his body, achieve optimal performance, free his body from stress and tensions and, ultimately, bringing true happiness into his life. Speaking of true happiness, Luis is the father of an adorable 6 year girl. He is certified in children’s yoga and enjoys introducing students to yoga and eastern philosophy. Maggie Rose Self
Irie Yoga Teacher

Maggie teaches the community class on Thursday evenings. She is a Sebastopol native who has been practicing yoga for almost 20 years and earned her 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training certification with Iris Lambert of Irie Yoga. With a background as a therapist and a dancer, she teaches alignment-based vinyasa yoga with an emphasis on self-nurturement.  She is passionate about making yoga accessible and co-teaches the donation-based yoga class at Alive.

Irie Yoga Teacher

Sima teaches Thursday’s community yoga class. You might know Sima from Viva Mexicana across the street from Alive (the little Mexican Restaurant that has been around for 33 years.) In whatever she does, her sole goal is to do it with love and heart.  Practicing and teaching yoga has been an extension of her love to bring what has helped her, to others. Her classes are donation-based and her practice is heart centered yoga asanas with the breath and with love. You will leave her class feeling a sense of peace in your mind and in your body.


Sloane Shinn
Vinyasa and Kids Yoga Teacher

Sloane teaches a beautiful gentle vinyasa class on Tuesday evenings. She especially loves guiding those who are new to the practice. In her free time she enjoys gardening, cooking, hiking and dancing. She lives Sebastopol with her husband and two children.
